Design Challenge

Create a digitally composited scene that creates a seamless believable “reality,” even if its contents are surreal and/or impossible. Infuse the scene with an emotional tone. Use at least 5 different image assets

Solution

I was inspired by the surreal photographer Jerry Uelsmann and the long shadows of Giorgio de Chirico’s haunting paintings. So, I married photos from a recent trip to Southern Italy with license-free fashion and nature photography. Our heroine is shown completely at ease, almost bored, while behind her destruction reigns out at sea. The effect invites you into the scene as you soak up the strange atmosphere.
