Design Challenge

This magazine is where journalism majors cut their teeth in a real production environment. It’s a very demanding course, so promoting it requires a good concept: acknowledging anxiety, yet highlighting the thrill of creating a real print magazine from nothing.

Solution

Out of several fun concepts, I chose the most direct and visceral: to do this class, you have to simply take the plunge. A complementary and bold color palette inject energy sturdy yet flexible typography brings the spirit of hard work and teamwork; and the subject of the illustration evokes the diversity at the heart of the CCSF experience. This cover was the runner-up pick, and will be used in a later edition.
